Buying reinsurance in CEE

How much protection is available, and how much of it is really bought?

The answer is, not looking only at the figures, that ... not enough. "Lloyd's market generally pulled back from the region in 2012, due to minimum rates on line" reported Guy Carpenter in its 2012 Reinsurance Renewal report for CEE. Market rumours say other big European reinsurers are gradually leaving the Romanian market, but not only.

Yet, EUROPE Re, as well as the VIG reinsurance subsidiary are still seeing an interesting potential in the area. On the other hand, there are Russian and other CIS reinsurers striving to get a bigger share of the Europe's emerging insurance markets business.

All in all, is there enough capacity available and for what price?
